چکیده
Abstract Background Normotensive premenopausal women show a vagal predominance of cardiac autonomic modulation, whereas age-matched men sympathetic modulation. However, some develop systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) even with preserved ovarian function. Our hypothesis is that these may have cardiovascular parameters similar to those hypertensive men, when subjected pharmacological treatment. We aimed investigate control and baroreflex sensitivity (BRS) in men. Methods One hundred volunteers between 18 45 years age were assigned two groups (50 participants each): group including patients history SAH for at least 6 months (25 25 women), who under treatment monotherapy (losartan, 25–50 mg/kg); normotensive women). Anthropometric, hemodynamic, metabolic, assessments performed focusing on BRS, modulation heart rate variability (HRV), blood pressure (BPV). Results On HRV analysis, showed higher values high-frequency (HF) oscillations absolute normalized units, lower of low-frequency (LF) LF/HF ratio, as compared When the compared, total variance LF HF bands units. than group. Conclusion Regardless through treatment, continued reduced normotensive, had more impairment women.

Gender differences in the association between morbidity and mortality among middle-aged men and women.
OBJECTIVES We examined gender differences in mortality, morbidity, and the association between the 2. METHODS We used health data from 2 studies of middle-aged men and women: the British Whitehall II cohort of employees from 20 civil service departments in London and the 1989 French GAZEL (this acronym refers to the French gas and electric companies) of employees of France's national gas and ...
متن کاملRelationship between Daily Step Counts with Anthropometric Risk Factors of the Cardiovascular System in Hamadanian Middle Aged Men
Introduction & Objective: Physical activity (PA) is inversely associated with obesity but the effect has been difficult to quantify using questionnaires. Pedometers provide an opportunity to better characterize the association. The aim of present study was to examine the relationship between pedometer-determined PA (steps/day) and anthropometric risk factors of the cardiovascular system (CVS)...
متن کاملCardiovascular adaptations to intense swim training in sedentary middle-aged men and women.
Central and peripheral cardiovascular adaptations to 12 weeks of intense swim training were characterized in 12 previously sedentary middle-aged men and women. Peak oxygen uptake (VO2) during upright bicycle exercise improved from 29.2 +/- 5.6 to 34.7 +/- 6.7 ml/kg/min (mean +/- SD, p less than .01) because of similar increases in peak cardiac output (CO) and calculated arteriovenous oxygen dif...

متن کاملIs there any relationship between cardiovascular disease and androgenetic alopecia in men and women?
Background: Worldwide, coronary heart disease is the most important cause of mortality and morbidity. Although numerous studies have documented the relationship between male pattern baldness and cardiovascular disease (CVD), few studies focused on this association in women. This study intended to evaluate the relationship between coronary artery disease and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in ...
